The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr Mary Awusi, has intensified efforts to attract foreign direct investment into Ghana by promoting the country’s investment opportunities at the Invest Ghana Business Forum and Exhibition held in Philadelphia, United States.

The forum formed part of a series of investment promotion activities organised in North America during the FIFA World Cup 2026, following similar engagements in Montreal and Toronto, Canada, to position Ghana as a preferred destination for investment, trade and industrial development.

A major highlight of the event was the official opening of the Ghana Trade House, an initiative of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) aimed at strengthening Ghana’s commercial presence in the United States and creating new opportunities for Ghanaian exporters.

The Trade House is expected to serve as a gateway for Made-in-Ghana products into the American market by providing exporters with a permanent platform to engage businesses, promote Ghanaian products and expand market access.

Addressing participants at the forum, Dr Awusi outlined the numerous investment opportunities available under Ghana’s Free Zones Programme and encouraged the American business community to take advantage of the country’s favourable business environment.

She said Ghana remained one of Africa’s most attractive investment destinations due to its strategic location, political stability and investor-friendly policies.

Dr Awusi explained that the GFZA offered a range of competitive incentives to local and foreign investors, particularly those engaged in export-oriented manufacturing and services.

She assured prospective investors that the Authority was committed to providing comprehensive investor support, including business facilitation, regulatory assistance and aftercare services throughout the investment lifecycle to ensure the success and sustainability of their investments.

Beyond the Philadelphia forum, the GFZA also participated in two major investment promotion events aimed at deepening economic relations between Ghana and the United States.

The first was the GHPAC Global Pitch, organised by the Ghana Diaspora Public Affairs Collective (GHPAC) in collaboration with the World Trade Centers Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, while the second was the Ghana World Cup Business Roundtable, Networking Forum and Exhibition, organised by the US-Ghana Chamber of Commerce.

At both events, the Authority engaged business executives, investors and members of the Ghanaian diaspora, highlighting Ghana’s industrialisation agenda and the opportunities available within the Free Zones enclave.

The investment forums brought together key government officials, business leaders and trade experts from Ghana and the United States.
Among the speakers were Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Emmanuel Smith; the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie; and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Kojo Kwarteng Arthur.

The GFZA delegation also included the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration, Musah Sibiri Hamidu, and the Director of Business Development and Research, AfCFTA, Strategic Partnerships and Agribusiness, Lawrence Osei-Boateng.

The Authority said its participation in the investment forums formed part of its broader strategy to attract quality investments, promote exports and support Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda through strategic international partnerships.
