The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has joined the nationwide General Cleaning Day initiative launched by President John Dramani Mahama, with staff across its Head Office and Regional Offices undertaking a massive clean-up exercise to support the government’s sanitation agenda.

The exercise, held on Friday, July 10, 2026, formed part of the national campaign aimed at improving environmental sanitation, promoting public health and encouraging citizens and institutions to embrace cleanliness as a shared responsibility.

At the Authority’s Head Office, the exercise was led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration, Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi.

He joined management and staff to clean the Authority’s premises and surrounding areas, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to environmental stewardship and national development.

Similar exercises were simultaneously carried out at all GFZA Regional Offices under the supervision of their respective Regional Heads. Staff actively participated in clearing weeds, sweeping compounds and ensuring cleaner and healthier working environments.

Management of the Authority said its participation reflects GFZA’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability while supporting the government’s efforts to make sanitation a national priority.

The Authority noted that maintaining clean workplaces and communities is essential to creating an attractive investment climate, safeguarding public health and promoting sustainable economic growth.

GFZA reaffirmed its readiness to continue partnering with government and other stakeholders in initiatives that contribute to a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Ghana.
