Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, has concluded a three-day radio victory tour across the southern part of the Western Region to galvanise support for former Member of Parliament, Hon. Eng. George Kofi Arthur, in the race for the Western Regional Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The tour, which ended in the Ahanta West District, formed part of efforts to mobilise delegates ahead of the party’s regional executive elections, with Hon. Arthur, who is contesting as Number 2 on the ballot, seeking to secure the mandate to lead the party in the region.
The three-day campaign engagement took the Amenfi Central MP to several radio stations across approximately 12 constituencies, where she appealed to delegates to rally behind the former MP and support his bid to become the next Western Regional Chairman of the NDC.
Hon. Cudjoe used the media engagements to outline what she described as the leadership qualities, experience and unifying disposition that make Hon. Arthur the right candidate to steer the affairs of the party in the region.
She maintained that the NDC needed a regional chairman capable of bringing party members together, strengthening internal cohesion and ensuring that the benefits of party leadership were extended to members at all levels.
According to her, Hon. Arthur possesses the requisite experience, vision and commitment to unite the party’s rank and file and position it for greater success in the Western Region.
CALL FOR CHANGE
During the radio engagements, Hon. Cudjoe called on her colleague Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and delegates across the region to throw their weight behind Hon. Arthur.
She urged them to vote massively for Number 2 on the ballot, stressing that his election would usher in a new phase of leadership focused on unity, inclusiveness and equitable opportunities for party members.
The Amenfi Central legislator presented the chairmanship contest as an opportunity for delegates to make a decisive choice about the future direction of the party in the region.
She encouraged delegates to look beyond individual interests and consider the broader objective of building a strong, united and formidable NDC capable of consolidating its political fortunes.
Hon. Cudjoe further appealed to party faithful to embrace change and support Hon. Arthur’s vision of leadership, which she said was anchored in service, cooperation and the collective advancement of the party.
Her campaign message throughout the three-day tour was that the Western Region needed a chairman who would work with all stakeholders, regardless of their constituencies, positions or individual differences.
PROMISE OF INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP
A major highlight of Hon. Cudjoe’s campaign message was her assertion that Hon. Arthur was entering the race to serve the party and ensure that all constituencies benefited from regional leadership.
She explained that the former MP was committed to working with party executives, lawmakers, MMDCEs, grassroots supporters and other stakeholders to advance the interests of the NDC across the region.
According to her, Hon. Arthur’s leadership approach would prioritise inclusiveness and ensure that the party’s opportunities and resources were not concentrated in the hands of a few individuals.
She emphasised the need for a regional chairman who would recognise the contributions of members at every level and create an environment in which party supporters in all districts felt valued and represented.
Hon. Cudjoe said Hon. Arthur intended to ensure that the regional party’s benefits were shared from the leadership at the top to members at the grassroots.
The message, she explained, was to build a party structure in which every constituency and district would have a sense of belonging and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the NDC in the Western Region.
The former MP’s campaign, as presented by Hon. Cudjoe, therefore places considerable emphasis on collaboration, fairness and the need to bridge divisions that could undermine the party’s organisational strength.
STRATEGIC MEDIA ENGAGEMENT
The three-day radio tour also highlighted the growing importance of media engagements in the internal electoral processes of political parties.
By visiting radio stations across approximately 12 constituencies in the southern part of the Western Region, Hon. Cudjoe sought to take the campaign message directly to party members and other listeners ahead of the regional contest.
The engagements provided an opportunity to explain Hon. Arthur’s candidacy, promote his position on the ballot and encourage delegates to support his bid for the chairmanship.
The tour’s conclusion in Ahanta West brought the campaign activity to a close, with the MP’s appeal centred on securing a strong mandate for the Number 2 candidate.
Her participation also underscores the role of party stakeholders in shaping internal elections through advocacy, mobilisation and engagement with delegates.
A CRUCIAL CONTEST FOR THE WESTERN REGION NDC
The Western Regional NDC chairmanship election is an important contest for the party as it seeks to strengthen its organisational structures and maintain cohesion among its members.
The regional chairman occupies a key position in coordinating party activities, facilitating communication between constituency executives and regional leadership, and mobilising members for political campaigns.
For delegates, the choice of a regional chairman presents an opportunity to determine the leadership style and priorities that will guide the party’s affairs across the region.
Hon. Cudjoe’s endorsement of Hon. Arthur reflects her conviction that his experience and leadership approach would help unite the party and promote a more inclusive regional administration.
Her appeal to MPs, MMDCEs and delegates to support Number 2 on the ballot is also intended to build a broad base of support for his candidacy.
As the campaign enters its decisive stage, the emphasis on unity, service and equitable opportunities is expected to remain central to the debate over who should lead the Western Regional NDC.
With the three-day radio victory tour ending in Ahanta West, Hon. Cudjoe has renewed her call for delegates to support Hon. Eng. George Kofi Arthur, insisting that his election would provide an opportunity to strengthen unity and ensure that the interests of party members across the region receive attention.
She urged delegates to vote for change by choosing Hon. George Kofi Arthur, Number 2 on the ballot, as the next Western Regional Chairman of the NDC.
