Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly Hands Over Project Sites to Contractors

The Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly has officially handed over nine project sites to contractors to commence construction works across various communities in the District.
The handing-over exercise, which took place on Thursday, January 29 and Friday, January 30, 2026, was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abubakar Sedik, with participation from traditional authorities, community members, Assembly Members, NDC Constituency Executives and contractors.

The projects include the construction of classroom blocks with ancillary facilities, CHPS compounds and staff quarters, a community centre, a KG block and the construction of a high 50,000 liters tank and a mechanised borehole.

The beneficiary communities include Manhyia, Mpasaso I and II, OseiKrom, Wioso, Afreseni, Kunsu, Mankranso, Mankranso Senior High School and Asuobena.

Addressing stakeholders during the handing-over, Hon. Abubakar Sedik emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to improving education, healthcare and sanitation infrastructure in the District. He urged contractors to work according to specifications, adhere strictly to timelines and deliver quality projects that would serve the communities for generations.

The DCE further assured residents that the Assembly would closely monitor the projects to ensure value for money.
He disclosed that the contract duration spans between six and eight months, depending on the nature of each project. He also noted that the Mpasaso No.1 and No.2 classroom projects are sponsored by the Members of Parliament’s Common Fund, highlighting the government’s continued investment in grassroots development.

Representatives of the contractors, in their remarks, expressed gratitude to the District Assembly for the confidence reposed in them. They pledged to execute the projects professionally, employ local labour where possible and complete all works within the stipulated contract periods.

The Chiefs and elders of the beneficiary communities welcomed the projects with appreciation. They thanked the government and the District Assembly for responding to their developmental needs and assured the Assembly and contractors of their full cooperation to ensure smooth project execution. They also called on community members to protect project materials and support the contractors on site.

The handing-over exercise marks another significant step in the Assembly’s agenda to enhance social infrastructure and improve the living standards of residents in the Ahafo Ano South West District.
