The Wassa Amenfi Central District Assembly in the Western Region has once again demonstrated strong commitment to the wellbeing of its people with the announcement of a massive Clean-Up Exercise aimed at improving environmental sanitation and promoting healthy living across the district.

The initiative, spearheaded under the guidance of the Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, and the Hon. Peter Amponsah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amenfi Central, forms part of ongoing efforts to build a healthier, safer, and more dignified Amenfi Central for all.
According to the district leadership, the clean-up exercise reflects a shared vision of collective responsibility and community-driven development, where every resident plays an active role in safeguarding the environment.

“Cleanliness is not optional — it is a responsibility,” the Assembly emphasized in a statement, noting that sanitation remains a critical pillar in protecting public health and enhancing the overall quality of life.

The exercise is expected to bring together residents from all walks of life, including youth groups, traders, opinion leaders, party faithful, and community members, in a united effort to rid communities of filth, clear choked drains, remove refuse, and restore cleanliness in public spaces.

Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, MP for Amenfi Central, reaffirmed her commitment to initiatives that uplift the living standards of the people, stressing that environmental cleanliness is directly linked to the future of the district.

“A cleaner Amenfi Central means a stronger future for our children,” she noted, urging residents to embrace the exercise not just as a one-day activity, but as a long-term culture of responsible living.

Similarly, Hon. Peter Amponsah, the District Chief Executive, called on all citizens to participate actively, emphasizing that development is not only about infrastructure but also about maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

“This is about protecting our communities from preventable diseases and ensuring that Amenfi Central remains a district we can all be proud of,” the DCE stated.

The clean-up exercise has been scheduled for Friday, 13th February 2026 at 6:00 AM sharp in Manso Amenfi, the District capital.

Residents have been encouraged to come along with working tools such as brooms, shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, cutlasses, and any other equipment that can support the activity.

Community leaders believe that this collective effort will not only improve sanitation but also strengthen unity and civic pride among the people.

The District Assembly has reiterated that keeping the environment clean is a shared duty, and through such initiatives, Amenfi Central can continue progressing toward a healthier and more prosperous future.

As the date draws closer, the call is clear: let every resident rise with a strong spirit of unity and help make Amenfi Central cleaner, safer, and stronger.
