The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Suame Municipal Assembly (SMA), Dr John Bobie-Boahin, has urged Ghanaians to be vigilant in the ongoing registration for the Ghana Card.

According to him, the card, which will be used to identify the citizens of the country, should not be given to non-citizens.

Addressing delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at Tarkwa Anomangye and Abusuakruwa Electoral Areas in the Suame Constituency, in Kumasi, Dr Bobie-Boahin, disclosed that the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pretended as if they have rallied behind the exercise which they objected to, when it Commenced.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, the NDC has adopted a snail-type approach in registering foreigners from other neighbouring countries particularly Nigeria and Cote Dvoire.

” It is very bad for the NDC to register foreigners  from Nigeria and Cote Dvoire for them  to dictate for us in future” The MCE said.

He disclosed that the NDC has realised majority of Ghanaians are not rooted for the party hence strategized to register foreigners for the card, which will be the main source of identity for Ghanaians.

According to him, the recent shower of praises by the Former President, John Dramani Mahama on the National Identification Authority (NIA) is a strategy and tactics to divert the attention of Ghanaians from their unnecessary criticisms hence registering foreigners behind the scenes.

” When NIA commenced the registration, NDC criticized all the approaches and methods for the exercise but now because they have planned to register foreigners they have kept mute” Dr Bobie-Boahin said.

He advised Ghanaians to resist all attempts by the NDC towards registering foreigners for the Ghana Card.

Dr Bobie-Boahin therefore called on the security agencies to complement the efforts of NIA to arrest any foreigner for attempting or registering for the card.
