The Ashanti Democrat,a political group in the Ashanti region has expressed outrage over allegations made against the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, accusing him of involvement in illegal mining activities.
The allegations, made by Mr. Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah, Head of Mobilization at Democracy Hub, during a live broadcast on Aluta FM, have been deemed “daring” and “extremely serious” by the Ashanti Democrat.
In a press conference held on November 21, 2025, the Ashanti Democrat headed by Jerry James Sukah, President, Ashanti Democrat,formally petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the truth to light.
The organization believes that no public discourse should be built on falsehood, and no leader should be unjustly attacked without evidence.
According to them,Dr. Amoakohene is a respected medical doctor and a public servant who has dedicated his life to healing and public welfare.
His commitment to fighting illegal mining and promoting the health and well-being of the people of Ashanti Region is well-known. The Ashanti Democrat finds it “illogical” and “completely unthinkable” that Dr. Amoakohene would be involved in activities that destroy the health and future of the people .
The Ashanti Democrat has warned anyone planning to fabricate accusations or spread malicious misinformation against Dr. Amoakohene to desist immediately. The organization will not tolerate any attempts to tarnish the reputation of their leader, who has earned admiration across traditional, political, and civic lines.
The Ghana Police Service has been petitioned to investigate the allegations, and the Ashanti Democrat is calling for accountability and justice. The organization believes that the integrity of hardworking public servants must be protected at all costs.
