The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has publicly expressed his profound appreciation for the steadfast and consistent support provided by the Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Albert Alalzuuga, to the region’s disaster management efforts.

The Minister’s commendation was delivered yesterday during the opening session of a crucial workshop for the District Volunteer Groups of NADMO, held at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).

The event served as a high-level convergence of key stakeholders, bringing together the Regional Disaster Management Committee, district directors, and officers of the RCC.

The primary objective of the workshop was to significantly strengthen readiness and coordination in the areas of disaster prevention and response across the Ashanti Region.

Addressing the assembled participants, Dr. Amoakohene highlighted the instrumental role NADMO’s Deputy Director General has played in enhancing the region’s capacity to handle emergencies.

“I conveyed my appreciation to the Deputy Director General of NADMO for the consistent support extended to the Ashanti Region. Their partnership continues to enhance our capacity to protect lives, property, and community resilience,” the Minister stated.

He further emphasized that this collaborative support is crucial for the continuous improvement of localized disaster management strategies, ensuring that the region is better equipped to anticipate, mitigate, and respond to various emergencies.

The Minister also used the occasion to reaffirm the national leadership’s dedication to disaster management and climate resilience, specifically referencing the vision of H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

“I also reaffirmed the commitment of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to building a safer, better prepared, and climate resilient Ghana,” Dr. Amoakohene declared.

“Under his leadership, disaster management institutions will receive stronger support to improve early warning systems, community education, and rapid response capability.”

This promise signals a future direction where critical institutions like NADMO will be further empowered with the necessary resources and technology to safeguard citizens and infrastructure against the growing threats posed by natural and climate-related hazards.

The successful execution of the workshop underscores the regional administration’s proactive stance.

By engaging with the grassroots District Volunteer Groups, the Regional Coordinating Council is focusing on effective decentralization and community-level mobilization—a vital element in effective disaster management.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Amoakohene called for sustained synergy among all stakeholders.

“Together, we will continue to advance a coordinated and proactive approach for the safety and wellbeing of all residents across the Ashanti Region,” he indicated.

The workshop is expected to result in practical recommendations and streamlined procedures, equipping both regional and district-level personnel and volunteers with the latest knowledge and skills required for effective emergency operations, solidifying the Ashanti Region’s pursuit of a safe and resilient environment for all its inhabitants.
