The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, led a delegation from the Security Council to join the Asante Mampong Traditional Council and thousands of mourners in observing the one-week celebration of the late Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II. The event drew a massive turnout of people from all walks of life, exceeding expectations.
Thousands Mourn at Asante Mampong Palace.
The forecourt of the Asante Mampong palace was packed to capacity with mourners, while others had to wait outside. The dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Frank Amoakohene, former Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, and Dr. Osei Yaw Akwabena Adutwum, among others. Paramount chiefs, queen mothers, clergy, security agencies, and representatives from state departments and agencies were also present.

Barimah Osei Hwedie II, the Ejurahene and Chairman of the planning committee, expressed gratitude to all sympathizers and mourners. He described the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II as a statesman who served his country and Traditional Council with honesty and dignity. He appealed to the public to continue supporting the Asante Mampong Traditional Council until the final funeral rites.
