In a significant move to bolster administrative synergy and regional development, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, officially received the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) today, January 5, 2026. The high-level meeting marked the beginning of the Chairman’s working visit to the region, centered on a series of New Year engagements with key stakeholders. The visit is viewed as a strategic effort to harmonize the party’s organizational goals with the government’s developmental agenda for the Ashanti Region.

During the reception, Dr. Frank Amoakohene—the youngest Regional Minister in Ghana’s history—reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. He noted that the presence of the National Chairman underscored the importance of the Ashanti Region as a cornerstone of national progress. The discussions focused on several “legacy” priorities for the region, including:

– Infrastructure Expansion: Accelerating ongoing road and healthcare projects across the 47 constituencies.
– Stakeholder Consultation: Deepening the dialogue between the RCC, traditional authorities, and professional bodies.
– Resource Alignment: Ensuring that regional priorities are perfectly aligned with the broader national development goals set by the Presidency.

Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s visit is not merely ceremonial; it represents a “working engagement” aimed at assessing the pulse of the region following the first year of the current administration. Speaking at the RCC, the Chairman emphasized that the effectiveness of governance is often a reflection of strong party organization and grassroots feedback.

“Our visit is part of a collective effort to strengthen consultation and ensure that the mandate given to us by the people is executed with precision. We are here to listen, to align, and to ensure that the vision for the Ashanti Region is shared by every stakeholder,” Nketia stated.

Since assuming office in early 2025, Dr. Amoakohene has focused on transforming the Ashanti Region into a hub for commerce and medical excellence.
