In a significant step toward strengthening grassroots development and community participation, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Hon. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, has officially commissioned the newly completed Darbaa Community Centre, a facility expected to serve as a hub for social, educational, and developmental activities within the area.
The commissioning ceremony, held in the presence of traditional leaders, assembly members, opinion leaders, and residents, marked a major milestone in the district’s ongoing efforts to improve community infrastructure and enhance public service delivery.
A New Hub for Community Engagement
The Darbaa Community Centre is designed to host a wide range of programmes aimed at promoting unity, civic engagement, and local empowerment. According to district authorities, the facility will provide space for community meetings, youth development initiatives, skills training, educational workshops, cultural events, and other important social interventions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Alenbilla described the centre as a transformational project that will strengthen community bonds and provide opportunities for residents, especially the youth, to participate in activities that promote progress and development.
“This community centre is not just a building. It is a symbol of our commitment to improving the lives of our people and creating a platform for inclusive development,” the DCE stated.
Supporting the Continuity of Development Projects
Hon. Alenbilla also used the occasion to commend President John Dramani Mahama for his renewed focus on ensuring the continuity and completion of ongoing projects across the country.
He noted that the commissioning of the Darbaa Community Centre reflects government’s commitment to sustaining development initiatives, regardless of when they were started, in order to ensure that communities fully benefit from public investments.
“We are grateful to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama for his initiative in continuing old projects and ensuring that communities like Darbaa are not left behind,” he said.
Traditional Leaders Applaud Government Efforts
Traditional authorities present at the event expressed appreciation for the project, describing it as timely and necessary. They pledged their support toward maintaining the facility and ensuring that it serves its intended purpose.
One chief in attendance noted that the community centre would play a vital role in addressing local needs, especially in the areas of youth engagement, education, and social cohesion.
Residents Welcome the Intervention
Residents of Darbaa also expressed joy and optimism, stating that the facility will help bring development closer to the people. Many described the centre as a long-awaited intervention that will provide a suitable venue for important community activities.
Some youth groups in the area indicated their readiness to use the centre for skills training, leadership programmes, and educational support initiatives.
A Step Toward District-Wide Progress
The commissioning of the Darbaa Community Centre forms part of broader development efforts by the Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly to expand access to social infrastructure and improve living standards across communities.
Hon. Alenbilla reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to pursuing more projects that will enhance economic growth, education, healthcare, and community development throughout the district.
“Together, we will continue to build a district where every community feels the impact of government and the promise of development,” he concluded.
Conclusion
