Hon. Mba Zacharia, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya North in the Ashanti Region, has embarked on an extensive inspection tour of various ongoing development projects across the district as part of efforts to ensure quality delivery and timely completion.

The visit, which took the DCE to several communities, was aimed at assessing the progress of work on key government-funded infrastructure projects and ensuring that contractors remain committed to meeting agreed deadlines.

According to Hon. Mba Zacharia, the district’s development agenda cannot be achieved without constant monitoring and supervision of projects that are intended to improve education, healthcare delivery, and access to safe drinking water for residents.

One of the major stops on the tour was Amakyebare, where renovation works are currently underway on a Junior High School (JHS) and Primary School building that suffered severe damage following a rainstorm.

The storm reportedly ripped off the roofing sheets of the school structure, leaving the facility exposed and disrupting teaching and learning activities.

Hon. Zacharia expressed concern about the impact such damage could have on students and teachers, emphasizing the need for swift restoration.

“Our children deserve a safe and conducive environment to learn. This renovation must be completed quickly to restore normal academic activities,” he stated.

CHPS Compound Project at Ntensere.

The DCE also visited Ntensere, where an ongoing Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound project is progressing steadily.

The CHPS compound, once completed, is expected to bring essential healthcare services closer to the people, particularly mothers, children, and the elderly who often travel long distances to access medical attention.

Hon. Zacharia noted that strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure remains a priority for the district assembly.

“This facility will play a crucial role in improving healthcare delivery in Ntensere and surrounding communities,” he said.

Completion of Asuofua Polyclinic Wards and Theatre.

Another significant highlight of the inspection was the completion works at the Asuofua Polyclinic, where male and female wards as well as a theatre are nearing completion.

The upgraded facility is expected to enhance the district’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services, including emergency and surgical care.

The DCE commended the progress made so far and encouraged stakeholders to ensure that the facility is equipped and operational as soon as possible.
New Classroom Block at Nketia Adeɛmmra

In the area of education, Hon. Zacharia inspected the construction of a three-unit classroom block at Nketia Adeɛmmra.

The project forms part of efforts to address infrastructure deficits in schools and provide improved learning spaces for students.

The DCE reiterated government’s commitment to investing in education, particularly in rural and peri-urban communities.

Mechanized Borehole Projects Across the District.

The tour further covered mechanized borehole projects being implemented districtwide. In total, about ten mechanized borehole projects are ongoing, aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water supply for communities.

Hon. Zacharia stressed that access to potable water remains essential for public health and socio-economic development.

“These boreholes will reduce the burden on communities, especially women and children, who travel long distances in search of water,” he noted.

At the end of the inspection, Hon. Mba Zacharia expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work exhibited by some contractors on site.

However, he appealed to all contractors to remain committed and ensure that projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe to serve their intended purpose.

“These projects are not just structures; they represent hope, development, and improved living conditions for our people. I urge all contractors to deliver on time so that the communities can begin to benefit,” he emphasized.

The DCE assured residents of the district assembly’s continued commitment to monitoring development projects and ensuring value for money in the execution of government initiatives.

He further encouraged community members to take ownership of the projects and protect them once completed, as they are critical investments meant to improve livelihoods across Atwima Nwabiagya North.

The inspection tour forms part of ongoing efforts by the district leadership to accelerate development and ensure that infrastructure projects in education, health, and water sectors meet the needs of the people.
