The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, has demonstrated rare commitment to grassroots development by personally supervising an all-night reshaping exercise on the Maakro–Agogo feeder road, a critical route serving residents and commuters within the municipality.

The intervention forms part of the Municipal Assembly’s broader effort to improve the condition of feeder roads across the area, many of which have deteriorated due to years of heavy use and seasonal weather challenges.

The poor state of the Maakro–Agogo road has long posed difficulties for motorists, pedestrians and residents, with excessive dust creating discomfort and health concerns, particularly during the dry season.

Speaking during the night operation, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah explained that his decision to spend the night on site was driven by the urgency of the situation and his desire to ensure quality work.

He noted that accessible and well-maintained feeder roads are essential to local economic activity, especially for farmers, traders and drivers who rely on such routes to transport goods and services.

“Our aim is to make all feeder roads in the municipality accessible and safe for everyone,” the MCE stated.

“The dust situation on this road has been unbearable for drivers, passengers and residents along the stretch. This reshaping exercise is an immediate measure to bring relief while we work towards the full construction of the road.”

The exercise, carried out with the support of operators of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machine, involved extensive grading of the road surface to restore its shape and improve smoothness.

According to the MCE, the reshaped road will be thoroughly watered and compacted using rollers to make it firm and thick enough to significantly reduce dust and enhance durability.

Hon. Boamah assured residents that the current reshaping is not an end in itself but a temporary intervention to make the road motorable and comfortable in the short to medium term.

He emphasized that plans are underway for the complete construction of the Maakro–Agogo road to ensure it fully serves its intended purpose and meets acceptable standards.

Residents who witnessed the night-long operation expressed appreciation for the MCE’s hands-on approach, describing it as a sign of responsive and people-centred leadership.

Many noted that the presence of the Municipal Chief Executive on site boosted confidence in the project and underscored the Assembly’s commitment to addressing local infrastructure challenges.

The Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly has, in recent times, intensified efforts to improve road infrastructure as part of its development agenda. The reshaping of the Maakro–Agogo road is expected to ease transportation, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, improve road safety and enhance the overall quality of life for communities along the corridor.

As the rollers complete the compaction and watering processes, the Assembly believes the road will remain durable for a considerable period, bringing much-needed relief to road users while preparations continue for its full-scale construction.
