Madam Mary(widow) , wife of Kwaku Adjei(Deceased)one of the victims shot at Ayamfuri, a mining community in the Upper Denkyira East in the Central Region has alleged that, her husband was shot and killed by the military under the instructions of DC Kwakye, Assembly member for the area and authorities of persus mining company barely two weeks ago.
The incident happened when some youth in the area who were transporting some sand for construction work in a tricycle were attacked by the military personnel.
Information has it that, those who were transporting the sand and were attacked by the military were not illegal miners as reported earlier.The attack by the military was deliberate.
According to her, she was with her husband at home eating that DC Kwakye, Assembly member for the area called her husband on phone about the arrest of her husband’s nephew by soldiers who were in the Ayamfuri community and working under the instructions of the assembly member and authorities of persus mining company (A mining company in the area).
She said, her husband immediately left the house to where his nephew has been arrested by the military.
She revealed that unknown to her husband, DC Kwakye had already given her husband’s name together with some guys to the military to shoot and kill them wherever they chance upon them.
The widow alleged that, the assembly member of the area is solely responsible for the death of her husband because he(Assembly member) invited her husband to the scene to meet his untimely death.
She said the death of her husband was deliberate and a plot by the Assembly Member and one OKyeame Asiedu who have been conniving with persus mining company authorities to bring chaos in the community
Speaking to the punch newspaper in an exclusive interview upon our visit to Ayamfuri over the weekend, it was revealed that, one Okyeame Asiedu and DC Kwakye have compiled list of some community members to soldiers who have been brought to town of Ayamfuri by DC Kwakye and authorities of persus mining company to kill all those who have their names on the list before they leave the town.
The reason be that those who have their names on the list have been accused of encroaching the site of the mining company. This and other reasons this paper learnt brought the shootings last two weeks.
One guy who didn’t want his name mentioned told the punch newspaper that, he was arrested with some guys three days before the incident by the soldiers and he was left to go after the soldiers have gone through the compiled list and didn’t find his name.
According to him, the soldiers fed him well when checks from their list proved him innocent.
He hinted that, the soldiers mentioned some names to him and wanted him to show them their houses to be killed.
He insisted that two persons died and that the incident happened when some youth in the area who were transporting some sand in a tricycle were attacked by the military personnel.
