The citizens of Sefwi, led by His Royal Majesty Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama and Sefwis living abroad, aim to establish a “New Sefwi.” Recently, His Royal Majesty Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II, Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, has been working to support citizens in the Western North, from Bibiani to the Sefwi boundary.

Today, Sefwi citizens in Ghana and abroad gathered with a common goal, collaborating with the Paramount Chief and traditional leaders to inaugurate the “Esahie Mbunduo Abusua” association at Sefwi Wiawso Training College.

Oheneba Nana Kwame Obeng, Chief of Sefwi Obeng-Mim, CEO of Oheneba Foundation, and renowned philanthropist, stated that the association’s motive is to recognize Sefwi’s significant contributions to Ghana’s development. Sefwi is renowned for its gold, bauxite, timber, cocoa, food, and other resources, yet its people remain unrecognized by the government.

Oheneba Nana Kwame Obeng emphasized that Sefwi boasts talented and intelligent individuals who can develop Ghana if given the opportunity. The association aims to develop Sefwi like advanced countries and cities by:

– Investing in agricultural sector
– Providing modern tools and equipment to farmers
– Helping the poor and needy with shelter and job opportunities

He noted that Sefwi is a peaceful place, contrary to exaggerated claims of wickedness. Hardworking individuals can thrive in Sefwi.

Oheneba Nana Kwame Obeng concluded that two key factors develop a country or community: its language and customs. He stressed that without valuing these, no matter how wealthy, a community cannot achieve its ambitions.

These remarks were made during the inauguration of “Esahie Mbunduo Abusua” at Sefwi Wiawso Training College Assembly Hall.
