Mr Shadrack Afful Appiah, Member of Staff at the Medicine Transfusion Unit at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has described the annual blood donation exercise by Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) as exemplary and a helpful enterprise to the blood bank.
Speaking during a blood donation exercise by the church on Saturday, Mr Appiah said the idea by the church was visionary since the donations help the unit to restock blood to attend to urgent cases needing blood transfusion.
CCC, he noted, has for seven years carried out the exercise ahead of its General Overseer’s birthday, adding that the intent was Godly and encouraging.
‘’Last year I was here for the first time to conduct the exercise and I was overwhelmed by the commitment of the congregation to donate blood to save lives and it is interesting that the church also uses the same to celebrate its Pastor whose birthday heralds this encouraging, Godly and inspiring exercise’’, the Transfusion officer stressed.
Details:
He disclosed that when schools are on break, the blood bank finds such voluntary donations from CCC and other institutions very helpful.
Mr Appiah said for CCC to show commitment to the Blood Bank for seven years goes to tell the kind of heart and attitude the church’s leader and congregation have about humanity.
As at 1:20pm, the Team had collected blood samples from 60 church members and was upbeat that by 5pm they would have reached close to 200 and more.
“We screen members who come around and take their vitals as well as take their blood samples to see if they are fit to fully donate and after donation they get to eat something prepared by the church for all donors so they can be reinvigorated”, the Team leader narrated the steps.
General Overseer:
Addressing the media, General Overseer of CCC, Reverend Ransford Obeng thanked members of the church that turned up to donate blood.
He noted that he finds fulfillment when together with members they do what is Godly and helpful to the society.
Rev Obeng said the church exists to point the world to Christ Jesus through their actions and behaviors they display, adding that showing kindness was a very part of righteous living.
‘’I will be 67 years on Tuesday and as part of my birthday celebration I decided that for the 7th time let’s donate blood to KATH so that they would have enough to save lives and to use the same to attend to emergency cases requiring the use of blood’’, Reverend Obeng stated.
Background:
In June 2016, the General Overseer of Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), Reverend Ransford Obeng turned 60 years.
To mark this momentous occasion, the General Overseer asked the church that rather than gifts or anything he would together with them donate blood to help save lives at KATH.
The CCC leader turns 67 on Tuesday, the 6th of June and last Saturday’s blood donation exercise by the church was to honor God for his life.
Well Wishes:
Ato Samson, member of the church, asked God for good health and uncommon favour for the CCC leader as he celebrates his birthday.
He confessed that Reverend Obeng had helped him to become a better person and Christian.
Linda Siarnokie, another CCC member, said her life has become purposeful because she encountered Christ Jesus through Reverend Obeng.
