The Ashanti Regional Chairman hopeful on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has made a surprise donation to some Muslim journalists in the Ashanti Region as part of this year’s fasting season on the Muslim Ramadan calendar.

This was the regional Chairman hopeful’s contribution to the Muslim journalist groups in the region, the religious annual fasting & prayers to mark the Holy Ramadan month.

The incumbent Kwabre South Constituency Chairman who doubles as the Chairman of the Association of Constituency Chairmen said the donation is to extend to all NPP Muslim groups including; serial callers, Radio &TV Communicators, Nasara coordinators, Muslim groups in Asawase Constituency, Kejetia and Central Market leadership among other stakeholders as well as Imans respectively.

The items he donated included; sugar, cartons of milk, carton of Milo, and assorted drinks among other items.

Even though, the donations were done privately some of the beneficiaries couldn’t hide their appreciation for the Ashanti regional chairman hopeful but expressed their surprise about the donation in an interview.

They described the donations as Allah-sent in this era when the cost of items is on the higher side.

The beneficiaries encouraged COKA to continue his gesture since giving is central in Islam.

It is on record that charitable giving is one of the most important responsibilities in Islam because it impacts the welfare of the individual and society as a whole.

It is considered the noblest way of spending wealth. According to them, Zakat or charity is the third pillar of Islam and major teaching.

It would be recalled that for the first time in the political history of the region, Chairman Odeneho who is affectionately called COKA distributed Christmas Cards to media practitioners and NPP communicators in the region among other stakeholders.

As soon as it was made public the incumbent Chairman quickly rushed to embark on a similar gesture to save his face after he has been accused by many party activists especially the communicators of the party of abandoning them. Mr.Alhassan Okogyeabour who received the items on behalf of the journalist is said to have commended the leader of the COKA family for the love shown to them.

They also prayed for Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah( COKA) and asked for Allah’s peace and protection for him during his political journey.
