Chairman Wontumi retained as Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP

Mr.Benard Anwti Boasiako, incumbent chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party has been retained as the Chairman of the Ashanti Region.

Chairman Wontumi as he is affectionately called beat off stiff opposition from four other contenders.

Prior to the election day, political analysts had predicted that the Chairman was going to lose because he has made the NPP unpopular in the Ashanti Region.

In all chairman Wontumi had 464 representing 60.26% and chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah had 306 votes representing 39.74%
