The chief of Kodiekrom in the Oforikrom municipality in the Ashanti Region, Nana Kofi Owusu I, has set in motion a monthly community clean-up up exercise to be adopted by his community members.
According to him, the clean-up exercise initiative shall focus on bringing together communities like Kotei and Deduako who are the main occupants of the Kodiekrom stool lands. ” I therefore entreat all and sundry, most especially the youth, business owners, my assembly members and unit committee members to make it a point to assist me to carry out this task on the last Saturday of every month to promoting a healthy and hygienic environment in my area”
His call came as a clean-up operation was carried out over the weekend at Deduako- Apemso electoral area in the Oforikrom municipal assembly , being organised by the assembly representative of the area, Hon. Richard Nyarko who doubles as the presiding member for the Oforikrom municipal assembly
Nana Kofi Owusu I, seized the opportunity to appeal to government to attend to the poor roads network in the Kodiekrom township as well as roads connecting to adjoining communities in the Oforikrom municipality.
Hon. Richard Nyarko, the assembly member , also Presiding member expressed his appreciation to the youth and community members who participated in the clean-up exercise.
” I would first of all want to thank my chief, Nana Kofi Owusu I and his elders, leaders of the two main political parties(NPP/NDC), colleague assembly members, the media, and my cherished community members as we endeavour to promoting a hygienic environment,” He stated.
