In a press release dated July 31, 2025, Commercial Transport Operators in Ghana have issued a stern warning to the Minister of Roads and Highways, expressing their frustration over the poor state of the country’s road network.
While acknowledging the Minister’s rhetoric on improving roads, they demand more action and less talk, emphasizing that the current state of roads is affecting their operations and livelihoods .
Key Demands
– Tangible Results: Visible improvements in road conditions and infrastructure development
– Accountability: Regular updates on road projects and funds utilization
– Stakeholder Engagement: Meaningful engagement with commercial transport operators and other stakeholders
The transport operators, led by Asonaba Nana Wiredu, Acting Chairman of Commercial Transport Operators, Charles Danso, Chairman of Ghana Committed Drivers Association, and Yaw Barimah, PRO of True Drivers Union, urge the Minister to take their concerns seriously and demonstrate his commitment to improving the road network.
They are willing to collaborate with the Minister to achieve this goal but will not tolerate empty promises .
