Mr. Ibrahim Alhassan, a concerned citizen, has made a passionate appeal to Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, to join forces with Eratus Asare Donkor of the Multimedia Group to tackle the menace of illegal mining in the Ashanti Region.

This call to action comes in response to Dr. Amoakohene’s question on Facebook, “Six weeks in office, what’s your thought?” which sought to engage citizens and gather feedback on his administration’s performance.

Mr. Alhassan’s plea highlights the urgent need for collective action to address the devastating impact of illegal mining on the environment, communities, and the economy.

By collaborating with stakeholders like Eratus Asare Donkor, who has been vocal about environmental issues, Dr. Amoakohene can leverage expertise and resources to develop effective strategies to combat illegal mining.

As the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Amoakohene has already demonstrated his commitment to prioritizing development across the region. In an earlier statement, he emphasized the need to focus on continuity in development and urged a united front to achieve shared goals .

The fight against illegal mining requires a multifaceted approach that involves government agencies, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, and local communities.

By working together, we can protect the environment, promote sustainable development, and ensure a brighter future for the people of Ashanti and Ghana as a whole.
