In a shocking revelation, Hon. Joseph Kpemka, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), has come under fire for alleged abuse of office and violation of the company’s Employee Code of Conduct on political activities.

Hon. Kpemka, appointed as DMD by the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in May 2024, is accused of hijacking an operational Toyota Hilux vehicle with registration number GM 2041-12. The vehicle, designated for the Bolga Depot’s daily mobility needs, was reportedly diverted for his parliamentary campaign activities. This action not only contravenes BOST’s internal regulations but also severely disrupted the depot’s operations.

According to Section 3.16 of BOST’s Code of Conduct, employees are expressly prohibited from using company resources, including vehicles, for political activities. The code states:
– Employees must avoid using their positions or company resources to support any political campaigns.
– All political engagements must occur outside working hours and off company premises.

Hon. Kpemka’s alleged misuse of the Toyota Hilux stands as a blatant disregard for these rules. Staff at the Bolga Depot faced significant operational challenges due to the absence of the vehicle.

The saga took another twist when the pickup was finally returned to the Savelugu Booster Station by Hon. Kpemka’s driver. Reports indicate that the vehicle was in a sorry state upon its return, raising further concerns about accountability and the abuse of public resources. The incident has amplified calls for the immediate resignation of the Managing Director and his deputy.
