The Chief Executive Officer of EKK Foundation, Mr. Evans Kofi Kwafo, has appealed to philanthropists and charitable organizations to join forces with the government in addressing the educational needs of vulnerable communities.

Mr Evans Kofi Kwafo made this statement at a donation event held in Mirekukrom, Nsawora District in the Western North Region.

The occasion saw the foundation donate 50 bags of cement to aid in completing a six-unit classroom block, as well as 1,500 exercise books, school bags, shoes, desks for teachers, and other teaching materials.

During the ceremony, Mr. Kwafo expressed concern over the persistent educational challenges faced by children in rural and underserved areas. “These children are left behind, cut off from opportunities because of poor roads, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of qualified teachers,” he said.

Despite government efforts, including the capitation grant program, many schools in deprived areas struggle with inadequate resources. Mr. Kwafo emphasized the need for affluent individuals and organizations to step up and complement government initiatives to ensure equitable access to quality education.

“We cannot expect the government to do it all,” he stressed. “Private sector involvement is crucial if we are serious about improving living standards across Ghana.”

His sentiments align with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which seeks to ensure that all boys and girls complete free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education by 2030.

The Odikro of Mirekukrom, Nana Kwadwo Tetteh, expressed his gratitude to the EKK Foundation for the timely support. “This contribution is deeply appreciated,” he said. Nana Tetteh also called on the government and other development partners to assist in improving the school’s infrastructure, which he noted was in urgent need of attention.
