Ashanti Regional Minister ,Dr Frank Amoakohene received the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Joan Selasie Ahiawordor (Esq.), at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) today.
The high‑level visit was followed by a tour of the training centres operating under the Adwumawura Programme, NEIP’s flagship initiative aimed at re‑engineering entrepreneurship and innovation for Ghana’s youth.
During the reception at the RCC, Dr Amoakohene commended the strategic vision behind the Adwumawura Programme, noting that it is a “futuristic and visionary initiative” with the potential to develop the next generation of business owners in the region. “The testimonies shared by participants affirm that this programme is truly shaping the future of our youth entrepreneurs,” he said, highlighting the positive feedback gathered from beneficiaries during the tour of the training centres.
Ms. Ahiawordor, in her remarks after the visit, expressed gratitude to Dr Amoakohene for the warm reception and for his continued support of youth entrepreneurship in the Ashanti Region.
She reiterated that the Adwumawura Programme is designed not only to provide funding and skills training but also to create an enabling ecosystem where young Ghanaians can thrive as sustainable business owners.
“The enthusiasm and commitment shown by the participants during our tour reaffirm that with the right support and leadership, our youth can drive inclusive economic growth,” Ahiawordor noted.
Dr Amoakohene extended his appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for conceiving the strategic vision behind the Adwumawura Programme.
He also thanked NEIP’s Chief Executive Officer Eric Adjei (Esq.) and the entire NEIP team for their dedication and exemplary leadership in implementing the programme across the country.
“Together, we remain committed to building a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem for our youth,” the Regional Minister affirmed, emphasizing the collaborative effort needed between government, private sector stakeholders, and the youth to achieve sustainable development.
The tour of the Adwumawura training centres allowed Dr Amoakohene and Ms. Ahiawordor to witness firsthand the impact of the programme on young entrepreneurs.
Participants recounted how the initiative has equipped them with essential business skills, access to funding, and mentorship opportunities, enabling them to turn their ideas into viable enterprises. Stakeholders observed that the programme’s focus on “responsible entrepreneurship” aligns with the region’s efforts to balance economic growth with environmental stewardship and job creation.
The Ashanti Regional Minister praised the programme’s holistic approach, which includes not just financial support but also networking, market access, and continuous post‑training support. He expressed confidence that the Adwumawura Programme will serve as a catalyst for transforming the region’s economy by fostering innovation, creating jobs, and reducing unemployment among the youth.
Dr Amoakohene reaffirmed the regional government’s commitment to supporting NEIP and its initiatives, pledging continued collaboration to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Ashanti. He urged young beneficiaries to seize the opportunities provided by the Adwumawura Programme, stressing that “sustainable entrepreneurship is key to the region’s long‑term prosperity.”
The visit underscores the synergy between national youth employment and entrepreneurship programmes and regional efforts to promote sustainable development. It also highlights the importance of strong leadership and partnership in driving initiatives that empower Ghana’s youth and position them as leaders of the country’s economic future.
