Dr. Gordon Kofi Sarfo-Adu has been appointed Acting Executive Director of the Forest Services Division (FSD) under the Forestry Commission.
This move marks a significant transition in leadership, coming at a critical time when Ghana’s forests face threats from illegal mining, deforestation, and climate change .
Dr. Gordon Sarfo-Adu is no stranger to the forestry sector. With a long career at the Forestry Commission, he’s built a reputation for professionalism, discipline, and technical expertise. His contributions to national forestry policy, forest governance, and international environmental negotiations are notable.
Before taking the helm at FSD, Dr. Sarfo-Adu served as Acting Director of Human Resources at the Forestry Commission. There, he implemented key reforms, including transparent recruitment processes, improved staff welfare, and capacity building. Colleagues describe his leadership style as firm yet fair, strategic yet grounded.
Dr. Sarfo-Adu holds advanced degrees in public administration, environmental management, procurement, and finance. His PhD from the University of Ghana showcases his academic excellence and real-world application to support sustainable forestry.
