Kwadwo Daase, the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Water Company, has indicated that the recurring power outages caused by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are impacting their operations in the region.
The Public Relations Officer claims that electricity power is the only source used for water purification and distribution.
Mr. Daase confirmed that their job of providing water to customers around the nation has become more challenging due to the erratic power outages.
“Our major challenge is dumsor. The unstable power at Bukonor treatment plant is making it difficult to serve Ghanaians with water,’’ Mr Daase told Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt FM.
He recalled that ECG’s erratic power supply was the cause of the water scarcity in several parts of the Eastern Region.
However, President Akufo-Addo has acknowledged the recent difficulties with the country’s electricity supply and reassured the populace of the government’s steadfast commitment to finding a solution.
President Akufo-Addo conveyed his appreciation to Ghanaians for their patience during the recent blackouts.
