Frankcare Foundation Pays for 12-Year-Old Schoolboy’s Knee Surgery At KATH

A 12-year-old schoolboy from Kumasi has been given a second chance at life after the Frankcare Foundation, led by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene and his wife Mrs. Juliet Amoakohene, paid for his knee surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The Child’s Ordeal.

The child, Christian,a pupil at Asafo St. Peters Basic School, initially complained of stomach abnormalities but was later diagnosed with a knee problem that required surgery. His mother, Gladys Abu, said they had spent two months in the hospital struggling to pay the bills, which had reached GHC 6,374.

The Frankcare Foundation’s Intervention.

Upon learning of the child’s situation, Dr. Frank Amoakohene and his wife quickly organized to pay the bills through their foundation. The Frankcare Foundation donated GHC 7,000 to the child and his mother to cover the costs of the surgery and gave extra Ghc5000 for the child’s upkeep, this brought the total figure to Ghc12, 000.

Mrs. Juliet Amoakohene’s Explanation.

Mrs. Juliet Amoakohene who made the donation today explained that the payment was made because the young boy, who was due to write exams, had been detained in the hospital due to his mother’s inability to pay the bills. She stated that her husband, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has a special affection for school-going children and felt compelled to attend to the emergency situation.

The Child’s Gratitude.

The child and his mother expressed their gratitude to the Frankcare Foundation for their kindness and generosity. The child’s mother, Gladys Abu, said she was relieved and thankful that the foundation had stepped in to help them during a difficult time.
