The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, has undertaken a high-level strategic working visit to selected Free Zones Enterprises (FZEs) within the Tema Free Zones Enclave, reinforcing the Authority’s commitment to industrial growth, export promotion, and job creation.
The visit, which took place on March 18, 2026, forms part of GFZA’s broader agenda to deepen engagement with industry players, evaluate operational performance, and address emerging challenges within Ghana’s free zones sector.
Leading a team of senior management officials, Dr. Awusi first visited Rebecca Fashion Manufacturing Ghana Ltd., a prominent enterprise engaged in the production and export of human and synthetic hair wigs. The company has carved a niche for itself on the international market, exporting to countries such as South Africa, Togo, and Burkina Faso, while providing employment for over 400 workers.
Management of the company expressed gratitude to the GFZA for its consistent support and facilitation, which they credited as instrumental in their growth and competitiveness. In response, Dr. Awusi commended the company for its resilience and significant contribution to employment generation and export earnings, describing it as a model enterprise within the enclave.
The GFZA delegation subsequently toured MND Metals Company Limited, a metal processing firm specializing in the conversion of aluminium and copper scrap into ingots for export. Since its establishment as a Free Zones Enterprise in 2016, the company has maintained a strong presence in global markets, exporting to countries including India, Turkey, Italy, Spain, and Greece.
With a workforce exceeding 500 employees, MND Metals has not only distinguished itself in industrial production but also in human capital development, offering vocational training opportunities and supporting community-based initiatives.
Dr. Awusi lauded the company’s operational excellence and adherence to Free Zones regulations, noting that such compliance is essential to maintaining Ghana’s reputation as a competitive and investor-friendly destination. She further encouraged the company to expand its corporate social responsibility footprint, emphasizing the importance of sustainable and inclusive industrial growth.
Accompanying the CEO on the visit were key officials of the Authority, including the Director of Corporate Affairs, PR and Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor; the Director of Administration, Hajia Hanatu Abubakar; the Head of Compliance, Michael Larbi; and the Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs, Bilal Muazu, among other officers.
The visit underscores the GFZA’s proactive approach in fostering a robust free zones ecosystem, strengthening partnerships with enterprises, and driving Ghana’s industrialization and export-led growth agenda.
