The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the opening of nominations for the Association’s 2025 National and Regional Executive Elections.
The nomination period commenced on Friday, May 16, 2025, and will close on Friday, May 30, 2025. This election is a crucial milestone in the democratic calendar of the Association, and the Committee is encouraging eligible members to participate and vie for various positions.
Positions to be Contested.
The positions to be contested in the election include:
National Level
– President
– Vice President
– General Secretary
– Organising Secretary
– Treasurer
– Public Affairs Officer
Regional Level
– Chairman
– Vice Chairman
– Secretary
– Treasurer
Requirements for Nomination
To participate in the election, interested candidates must meet the specified requirements, including payment of nomination fees into the designated GJA account. The nomination fees are as follows:
– National Elections:
– President: GH¢ 5,000
– All other positions: GH¢ 3,000
– Regional Elections:
– Chairperson: GH¢ 1,500
– All other positions: GH¢ 1,000
Nomination Process.
Nomination forms will be available via a secured link upon proof of payment of the nomination fee. Completed nomination forms must be submitted with a recent bust-size photograph with a red background.
Vetting Schedule..
All nominated candidates will undergo a vetting process to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria. The vetting schedule is as follows:
– National Candidates: Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Ghana International Press Centre
– Regional Candidates: Virtually during the same period
The results of the vetting will be published on Friday, June 6, 2025.

– Balloting for positions: Monday, June 9, 2025
– Official campaign period: Starts after balloting on June 9 and ends on Saturday, June 28, 2025
– Publication of Voters Register: By Friday, May 30, 2025

– Election Day: Monday, June 30, 2025
