Group Calls For Removal Of DCE Over Alleged Embezzlement Of Quarry Fund

Some  NPP youth activists  in Afigya Kwabre South district  in the Ashanti Region have staged a demonstration  against their DCE for being incompetent and misappropriating  funds meant for the development of the area.

They are however calling on the president not to reappointment him to  chair the district.

In a press released endorsed by the former assembly member for Kodie electoral area Hon. Fokuo Enoch and Emmanuel Ansah, who led the youth alleged that, Hon. Adu Poku Christian (A.P.C), DCE for the district has embezzled  quarry fund of GhC17 billion, among  other funds which were meant for the development of the district.

The agitating NPP youth leveled several allegations against Hon. Adu Poku Christian, indicating that since assumption of office, the DCE is claiming he has spent more than Ghc50,000 on media coverage to project the assembly assembly  in expense of quarry fund, whereby there’s no truth in it but rather used the money to enriched his pocket

Adding that, a project of bridge construction at Afrancho Bronkong, which  by was agreed  by the assembly members to be constructed with an amount of Ghc3.5b, was later came to realization that, the DCE is claiming the project cost Ghc23 billion.

, Mowere bridges were to be constructed at a cost of Ghc1.9 billion but the DCE unscrupulously squandered Ghc8.5b, from the quarry fund  and that of the assembly’s common fund.

According to the youth and section of assembly members, the DCE in question, of late doesn’t present projects to the assembly for approval but rather proceed, and prepared his own budget to be paid from the quarry fund  and assembly common funds.

Hon. Enoch Fokuo, one of the protestors appealed to the president not to reappoint their non-performing DCE. He indicated that the group will stage series of demonstrations for APC’s removal in avoidance of plunging the district into ditch, if their concerns were ignored.
