A Kumasi High Court has granted an interlocutory injunction which was sought by the plaintiff, Amoah Gyamih, NPP Council of Elders Chairman at Bosome Freho against Asafo Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, defendant and eletected Parliamentary candidate in the area.

In the application, the plaintiff argued that the NPP should be restrained from further dealing with the PC until a case challenging his claims of being a native of Bosome Freho is dispensed with.

Mr Gyamih also asked the courts to stop the candidate from holding himself out as candidate until the substantive case is determined.

The High Court after hearing granted same on the 10th of July, 2024 and has served same on the NPP and the candidate in a substituted service manner.

Background:
In 2023, the NPP had its Parliamentary primaries across Ghana 🇬🇭.

In the Bosome Freho Constituency, Asafo Adjei Ayeh despite protestations against his legitimacy from the Council of Elders Chairman, Amoah Gyamih at a vetting committee meeting chaired by Gary Nimako was allowed to contest.

He subsequently won the contest but was challenged in the court.

Currently, a suit filed by the Council of Elders chair challenging the eligibility of the PC on grounds that he does not hail from Bosome Freho is still at the High Court pending final determination.

Interview:
Moments after securing the interlocutory injunction verdict, the plaintiff, Mr Gyamih told the media that the PC has no trace to any relatives in Bosome Freho.

He added that the injunction was to prevent the NPP from going ahead with any dealings they may have with the PC since he has no legitimacy.

He added that until the substantive case challenging his eligibility is determined there was the need to stop Asafo-Adjei from holding himself out as a legitimate peron.

He noted that the PC by this decision could not do business with the NPP and also project himself as legal representative of same.
