The Ashanti Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has intensified an initiative called *I am Young and Responsible* to educate and empower high school students about PURC’s mandate and the significance of using electricity and water responsibly.
This time, the regional office met with students from Ejisuman Senior High School in the Ashanti Region.
This initiative primarily aims to:
1. *Create Awareness of Consumer Rights*: Students understand their rights as consumers of electricity and water.
2. *Understanding utility regulation*: Awareness of PURC’s role in promoting fair practices.
3. *Informed decision-making*: Students can make well-informed choices about utility usage.
4. *Promoting responsible consumption*: Education promotes sustainable practices.
5. *Empowering Future Leaders*: Students recognize PURC’s influence on national development.
This education promotes informed citizenship, responsible resource use, and awareness of regulatory frameworks.
