National Chairman hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Stephen Kwadwo Asamoah Boateng popularly known as ASABEEE says his entry into the Chairmanship race is to win and lead a solid party to break the 8 year cycle of governance in Ghana.
Addressing the media at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, Asabeee said the NPP at this time needed a person in the shape of a war time general who can lead to galvanise and mobilise all support to prosecute its political agenda.
He noted that the upcoming national elections in 2024 present a unique opportunity to the NPP to break the 8 year jinx and as such needed a person who has both the mental and physical strength to deploy strategy to lead for victory.
“I, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, by God’s grace have the competences, experience, strategy and bold character to lead a strong Party that can beat the NDC emphatically in 2024 General Elections. I am therefore, humbly appealing to the NPP members who will be voting in the July national elections to give me the nod so that we can go to the trenches”, Asabeee posited.
APPROACH:
Stating his approach and vision, Asabeee said he would be using a 7 pronged method in unifying the party, as well as strengthening the party structures by offering definite roles for deputies as well as Vice Chairpersons in the executive body of the party especially at constituency and national levels.
The former Local Government Minister also mentioned the desire to build the party’s finances at all levels so that it can self support to carry out its mandates every time.
He noted that when the party is self supporting it could raise money to support the Party’s Presidential Candidate so that when the party wins power it could have a stake of, at least, 40 percent of all appointments.
“I call it an agenda 60/40 where the party would negotiate with its party’s flag-bearer ahead of elections to appoint party members at polling station as well as constituency and regional level officers into government because they sacrificed for the party” , Asabeee explained.
DETAILS:
Hon Boateng stressed his desire to lead the NPP like a field marsall so that it could face any onslaught by the party’s opponents with a well thought out strategy ahead of the 2024 elections, which he noted would be keenly contested.
The NPP party, the former State Interests and Governance Authority Director General said, needed to build a strong welfare policy where its members would be catered for from so that they could carry out useful tasks for the party.
“My desire and determination is to lead to build the competences and skill sets of women and give them the financial backing to do what the do best. I will empower the youth in our Party to benefit from educational support, mentor them so that they can become employable or entrepreneurs”, the former SIGA boss intimated.
In conclusion, Asabeee stated that “I will lead a strong Party to wake up the Great Elephant Party to do what Elephants do best to break the 8 in 2024”.
Joined by coordinators of his campaign across the country as well as members of his former constituency, Mfantseman and some party stalwarts, Hon Asabeee launched his campaign which he has titled “Action Man, Caring for the Grassroots, Breaking the 8”.
