In a spirited address to supporters and party faithful, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has issued a stern warning against the victimization of party delegates, promising to protect their positions if elected to lead the party.

The former Assin Central Member of Parliament, known for his “showdown” rhetoric and blunt delivery, addressed a packed hall of delegates, many of whom were sporting “Vote Ken” apparel.

The crux of his message centered on internal party unity and the preservation of the party’s grassroots structure.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong addressed growing concerns among the rank and file regarding threats to remove certain delegates from their positions based on their perceived loyalties in the upcoming internal elections.

“If you don’t want to be removed, vote for Kennedy Agyapong,” he told the cheering crowd. He emphasized that the “courage” shown by the current delegates should be rewarded with job security, not threats of dismissal.

The firebrand politician provided a statistical analysis of the party’s performance over the last eight years to justify his stance. He noted that the NPP had lost a staggering 82 seats out of 169 during this period.

He attributed part of this decline to internal friction and the mistreatment of loyal party workers.

Hon Kennedy Agyapong argued that victimizing a single delegate has a “ripple effect” that could cripple the party’s chances in the general election.

“When you remove one person, you haven’t just removed that individual,” Kennedy Agyapong explained. “That person has a wife, they have children, they have friends, and they have relatives. By the time you are done, that one person you removed has affected 20 votes against the party in the general election.”

Hon Kennedy Agyapong’s message was clear: the path coming back to power in 2028 lies in protecting the people who do the hard work on the ground.

He positioned himself as the “shield” for the delegates, promising that under his leadership, no one would be targeted for their political choices.

The atmosphere at the event remained charged, with supporters chanting his name as he concluded his address.

As the NPP moves closer to its primary, Kennedy Agyapong’s focus on delegate protection is seen by many as a direct appeal to the grassroots, who often feel vulnerable during high-stakes leadership transitions.
