The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a second and final evacuation notice to occupants and traders along the Santasi Roundabout–Asokwa Interchange corridor to vacate the area to allow for the construction of a dual-carriage road.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Unit of the Assembly on Monday, the KMA urged car dealers, mechanics, shop owners, taxi operators, squatters, and owners of temporary structures operating along the stretch to relocate voluntarily on or before January 20, 2026, to pave the way for the ongoing redevelopment project.
The Assembly recalled that a previous directive issued on September 24, 2025, required all affected occupants, including billboard owners, to vacate the area by November 1, 2025. However, despite persistent public notices, some occupants have failed to comply with the directive.
According to the statement, construction works on the Santasi–Asokwa dual-carriage road have already commenced, and full cooperation from the public is required to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
The KMA further disclosed that engineers from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have begun relocating essential utility installations along the corridor as part of preparatory works.
The Assembly appealed to residents and business owners in the affected areas to support and cooperate with engineers on site to facilitate a smooth and timely execution of the project.
Owners of affected garages and businesses have been advised to contact the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Physical Planning Department, and the Urban Roads Department for assistance with relocation and related concerns.
The KMA emphasized that compliance with the evacuation directive is crucial to the successful and timely completion of the road project, which is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and transportation within the Kumasi metropolis.
