Elders of Kotokuom, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region are mad over the activities of one Kwaku Boah (former caretaker of Kotokuom community), for peddling lies against the Chief of Atwima Agogo, Nana Osei Kwame III, the overlord of Kotokuom community.

According to them, Kwaku Boah who has gone on radio alleging that the Atwima Agogohene is involved in illegal mining, is not a stool elder of the community and cannot claim to be one.

Following his conduct, the elders of the community are compelled to caution Kwakuboah, described as an imposter, to desist from defamatory character.

According to them, Atwima Agogohene is a well-respected chief, very responsible and will not involve himself in illegal mining.

Opanin Kwofie, one of the elders alleged that it is rather Kwakuboah who employed the services of illegal miners to dredge in the Offin -river when
Nana Osei Kwame III appointed him to take care of the community 13 years ago.

He said the activities of Kwakuboah totally destroyed the Offin-river which resulted in the termination of his appointment as the caretaker of Kotokuom community by Atwima Agogohene.

Opanin Kwofie noted that ,Kwaku Boah is peeved by the sanctions against him hence he is provoked and thus hopping from one radio station to the other to defame the Atwima Agogohene.

He insisted that Kwaku Boah’s bad character compelled Atwima Agogohene to revoke his appointment.

On his part, Osofo Danso emphasized that Atwima Agogohene has consistently been fighting illegal mining in his area from his own resources.

He explained that quite recently he and the Atwima Agogohene stormed the affected areas to drive away all illegal miners and made sure the Offin river is safe and clean.

He revealed that Kwaku Boah and his niece who is ‘Obaapanin’ of Atwima Fankyenebra are trying to make the Chief unpopular simply because he is not giving them the chance to operate their illegal mining activities, which he thinks does not make sense.

The elders in the community have, therefore, issued an ultimatum to Kwaku Boah to go back to the radio stations to retract the lies and irresponsible comments he peddled against their respected Chief else they would advise themselves and deal with him.
