The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has taken a bold step to address the pressing issue of filth and sanitation in the city.

Expressing concern over the deplorable state of the environment, particularly the choked gutters, Mayor Ofori lamented the lack of civic responsibility among residents and traders.

He noted that despite efforts to clean the city, the environment quickly becomes dirty again, with traders and residents contributing to the problem.

“You’ll make the environment clean and safe later with few minutes both traders and residents will comeback and make the place dirty again,” he said, highlighting the need for a change in behavior.

The clean-up exercise, which focused on key areas, including:Zoo Roundabout through Pampaso to Otumfuo Roundabout.

Otumfuo Roundabout through Acheamfour Market,

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has urged residents, traders, and transport operators to participate actively in the clean-up exercise and to adopt responsible waste disposal habits.

The Assembly has also warned that it will strictly enforce sanitation by-laws, with enforcement teams set to arrest and prosecute offenders.

The city-wide clean-up exercise is a significant step towards promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Kumasi.

The mayor’s leadership and commitment to environmental cleanliness are commendable, and it is expected that residents will heed the call to action and work together to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
