The vibrant spirit of creativity and cultural expression came alive at the bustling Asokwa Interchange as students from the Visual Art Department of Kumasi Senior High Technical School made a remarkable impression during the 2026 edition of AshantiFest 2026 street art exhibition.

The initiative, which formed part of the broader festival activities, was designed to provide young and emerging artists with a platform to showcase their talents to the public while celebrating Ghanaian culture through visual storytelling.

Led by dedicated tutors Yaw Osei and Madam Patient Adofo Kumah, a team of seven talented students captivated onlookers with a series of striking paintings centered on the folklore of African warfare.

Their work vividly depicted themes of bravery, tradition, and the historical essence of African warriors, blending rich symbolism with bold artistic techniques.

The students worked passionately in the open space, drawing crowds of festival-goers who paused to admire the intricate details and powerful narratives embedded in each piece.

The artworks not only reflected technical excellence but also demonstrated a deep understanding of African heritage, making their presentation both educational and inspiring.

Speaking on the significance of the exhibition, the tutors emphasized that such opportunities are crucial in nurturing creativity and building confidence among students.

They noted that exposing young artists to real-world platforms allows them to engage directly with audiences, receive feedback, and appreciate the impact of their work beyond the classroom.

“This experience goes beyond just painting,” one of the tutors remarked. “It helps the students to believe in their abilities and understand that their talent has value in society.”

The highlight of the event was the recognition the students received from patrons and organizers of the festival. Their exceptional display of artistry earned them admiration and praise, further cementing the reputation of Kumasi SHTS as a hub for creative excellence.

Observers at the event described the students’ performance as one of the standout moments of the street art segment, noting how their work seamlessly blended tradition with contemporary artistic expression.

As AshantiFest continues to promote culture, tourism, and youth development, the participation of institutions like Kumasi Senior High Technical School underscores the importance of investing in the creative arts as a tool for national identity and economic growth.

The success of the students at the event serves as a powerful reminder that within Ghana’s classrooms lie immense talents waiting to be discovered, nurtured, and celebrated on larger stages.
