Mr. Kyei Mensah Bonsu, former Member of Parliament for Suame and former Majority Leader, has commended Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, for his bold decision to complete all existing unfinished projects in the Ashanti Region.
According to Mr. Mensah Bonsu, there are numerous infrastructural development projects initiated by the previous Akufo-Addo government that were left incomplete. These projects include:
– Astroturf
– One District One Factory
– Central Market project
– Suame Roundabout Interchange project
– Market projects
– School infrastructures
– Road construction projects
The former Majority Leader assured that he can count on the support of Members of Parliament and other stakeholders in the region to drive development forward.
Mr. Mensah Bonsu made these commendations at the Kumasi Bloc Public Dialogue, a high-profile forum aimed at assessing the 2025 Budget and its alignment with Kumasi’s developmental aspirations. The dialogue sought to gather diverse perspectives from stakeholders, including Members of Parliament, policymakers, business leaders, market associations, and civil society groups.
The former Suame legislator expressed concern over the removal of the COVID-19 Levy, suggesting that it could be replaced with a Pandemic Levy to address future pandemics. He also welcomed the government’s policy on free sanitary pads for students, noting that it would increase school enrollment and reduce girls’ absenteeism, especially in rural communities. However, he urged the government to increase education infrastructural facilities to accommodate the students.
