The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West ( Mankranso) in the Ashanti region has joined the management of Ahafo Ano Premier Rural Bank PLC to commission four newly constructed mechanized boreholes in the district, as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at improving access to clean and safe drinking water.
The boreholes, which are expected to significantly enhance water supply in beneficiary communities, were commissioned at a brief but colourful ceremony held in the district. Three of the mechanized facilities were inaugurated at Wiowso, while one was commissioned at Mankranso.
Speaking at the commissioning event, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, expressed profound appreciation to Ahafo Ano Premier Rural Bank PLC for supporting the district with such an impactful intervention.
According to the DCE, access to potable water remains one of the critical development priorities of the Assembly, and the commissioning of these boreholes will go a long way in complementing the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to improve living conditions in rural communities.
“This project will greatly support what the Assembly is doing under my leadership. Water is a basic necessity, and every community deserves access to safe drinking water,” the DCE stated.
Hon. Abubakar Sedik further noted that the Assembly has already made considerable progress in addressing water challenges across the district. He disclosed that under his administration, five mechanized boreholes have already been constructed to serve various communities.
This, he explained, forms part of the broader agenda of ensuring that residents, especially those in underserved areas, are provided with essential social amenities.
The DCE emphasized that development is a collective responsibility, and partnerships with institutions such as rural banks remain crucial in achieving sustainable progress.
DCE Working for Service, Not Applause
In a heartfelt remark, Hon. Sedik stressed that his administration is driven by service and commitment rather than public applause.
“I am working for a cause, not for applause. My focus is to ensure that the people of this district receive the development they deserve,” he affirmed.
His statement was met with admiration from community members who acknowledged the Assembly’s efforts in improving infrastructure and social services.
The management of Ahafo Ano Premier Rural Bank PLC also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community development beyond financial services. The bank explained that the provision of clean water through mechanized boreholes aligns with its vision of contributing meaningfully to the wellbeing of its operational communities.
Residents of Wiowso and Mankranso expressed gratitude to both the bank and the district leadership, noting that the new water systems will ease the burden of long-distance water collection and improve sanitation and public health.
The commissioning of the four mechanized boreholes marks another significant milestone in the district’s development journey. It underscores the importance of collaborative governance, where both public institutions and private organizations work together to address pressing community needs.
As the Assembly continues to roll out development projects across the district, stakeholders remain hopeful that such partnerships will further accelerate progress and improve livelihoods in the Mankranso District.
