A major stride toward improving public health delivery in the Ashanti Region was recorded today as over 2,000 residents of Mampong benefitted from a large-scale medical screening exercise led by Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister.

The impactful initiative, spearheaded by Nana Agyakoma Difie II, the Mampong Hemaa, was carried out with strong institutional backing from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.

It also received critical support from key partners including Mahama Care, the National Health Insurance Scheme, MTN Ghana, and the Ashanti Global Festival.

The exercise, which drew a large turnout from the community, provided free screening services for a wide range of health conditions.

Beneficiaries underwent checks for ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic and preventable diseases, reinforcing efforts to promote early detection and timely treatment.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Amoakohene underscored the importance of preventive healthcare and the need to extend such interventions to underserved communities.

He noted that the overwhelming participation reflected a growing awareness among residents about the importance of regular health check-ups.

A particularly commendable aspect of the outreach was the mobile blood donation drive, which saw many residents voluntarily donating blood.

Health officials described the gesture as both timely and lifesaving, as it will significantly boost blood reserves for emergency and critical care across health facilities in the region.

The event was graced by the esteemed Omanhene of the Mampong Traditional Council, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, whose presence highlighted the crucial role of traditional leadership in championing community development initiatives.

Also in attendance were Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), as well as representatives from corporate Ghana, demonstrating a united front in addressing public health challenges.

Organisers emphasized that the success of the exercise was a testament to the power of collaboration between government, traditional authorities, corporate institutions, and civil society. The initiative not only delivered essential healthcare services but also strengthened community engagement and trust in public health interventions.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Amoakohene commended all stakeholders, including health professionals, volunteers, and partner organizations, for their dedication and selfless service. He reiterated the region’s commitment to sustaining such initiatives as part of a broader agenda to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare.

The Mampong medical outreach stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through coordinated efforts, as the Ashanti Region continues to make meaningful progress toward building a healthier, more resilient population.
