The NPP Council of Elders (Ashanti) has commended the Minority Parliamentary Caucus for its unmatched commitment and resilience in debates on the floor of Parliament.
A statement issued and signed by Mrs. Rosemond Appiah Menka and Victor Owusu Jnr., chairperson and Secretary respectively of the Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders, said in spite of the relentless tactics of bullying, frustration and intimidation by the Majority of 189, the Minority group of 87 has exhibited sterling qualities in debate that speak to the very soul of NPP tradition.
“In the spirit of Danquah, you (Minority) have stood as guardians of liberty and constitutional order, reminding the nation that democracy thrives only when its foundations are defended with courage and clarity”, the Elders noted.
The Council of Elders further noted that the Minority Caucus had remained grounded in the humanity championed by Dr. Busia and thus proven that leadership is not merely about power but about service placing the dignity and welfare of Ghanaians in their deliberations
The Elders emphasised that the performance of the group has affirmed that Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition is not only a heritage but a compass for.principled action in challenging times.
While extending special commendation to the Minority fpr dedication and delivery, the Council of Elders anticipated that the Christmas festivities would strengthen them to renew their resolve to persevere and guard the living values in the discharge of their parliamentary endeavours. E N D.
