Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former Managing Director of State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has said his detention at the JFK Airport Story ushered him a Green card in the USA.
Green card, is a card that permit foreigners to stay over longer period without any harassment abroad.
According to him, the person who was behind the story thought he was tarnishing his image but ended up in exposing him to the whites which has now given him the opportunity to travel to the USA without seeking for visa.Dr. Samuel Sarpong told Oheneba Nana Asiedu on fox morning drive this morning
He said, he knows the person behind the false report but has no interest in mentioning his name.
He hinted that, the person is an NDC member, former appointee in the Mahama led administration.
He revealed that, former reports that he was detained for hours at the JFK Airport in the United States of America over suspicion of drugs and money laundering was pure falsehood, orchestrated to soil his good image.
Adding that, his public and private records are untainted, maintaining that he was not arrested nor detained in relation to any drug offence or money laundering allegations anywhere in the world as being portrayed in the media.He wondered why he will be walking free in Ghana if that was the situation.
“They say I was arrested in the United States for money laundering and drugs if so I should have been behind bars in the states pending the outcome of court proceedings following charges that would have been slapped on me. There is a precedence in the country that when someone is arrested, the suspect is detained until the determination of the case”, he compared and contrasted
.Dr. Sarpong also suspected someone he refused to name is behind these series of bad reportage on his person and noted the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) was informed to carry out their checks to ascertain the motives of the treacherous person.
In his view, the allegation being planted by his political detractors are aimed towards soiling his hard-won reputation promising it would fall flat since his credibility remains unmatched in the face of the denigrating agenda targeted at his person.
The Former Ashanti Regional Minister and former mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly explained that his life has been very exemplary for not only his children but the country’s youth promising that he is determined to contribute his quota in no small way in reforming society and not the reverse.
