The MP for Kumawu in the Ashanti region ,Ernest Yaw Anim has disclosed plans to procure tricycles to convey students in rural communities to and from school daily.

According to Hon. Anim, this initiative will help reduce absenteeism among students and encourage parents to send their children to school at a tender age.

He made these remarks during the 2025 Kumawu MP Teachers’ Awards ceremony, held in Kumawu under the theme “Motivating the Teacher; The Tool for Educational Transformation.”

The Overall Best Teacher received a refrigerator, while a teacher from one of the hard-to-reach communities received a motorbike. Hon. Anim also promised to fix the bad roads leading to rural communities to make movement easier.

Oheneba Kwasi Agyekumhene, Kumawu Kyidomhene, urged teachers to ban students from playing video games and loitering on the streets late at night. Mr. Kwame Oduro Owusu, Kumawu District Education Director, encouraged teachers who did not receive awards to work hard for recognition in the coming years.

The Overall Best Teacher, Paulina Afia Ago, called on authorities to post more teachers to the district.
