An outspoken grassroot Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern region, Mr. Amadu Hamdawei has begun a strategic campaign for Pro-NPP candidates who are contesting the District and the Metropolitan Assembly elections.
The aim of the campaign is to secure support of any form to candidates affiliated to the New Patriotic Party.
He revealed that the leadership and supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are vigorously campaigning for their members at the various electoral areas.
In a statement, Mr. Hamdawei made a proposal to the leadership of NPP, stating that the Assembly elections extends beyond the boundaries of local governance.
According to him, the assembly elections set the stage for the confirmation of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

As we stand on the brink of the District/Metropolitan Assembly elections scheduled for the 19th of December, 2023, I write with a heartfelt plea on behalf of Pro-NPP supporters who are contesting this year’s Metropolitan, Municipal and District assembly elections across the nation.
In recent times, we have observed vigorous campaigns by the leadership and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in various electoral areas. Their efforts are commendable, and it is a reminder of the need for our great party, the NPP, to equally rally behind our candidates who are vying for positions in the upcoming assembly elections.
The significance of winning in these elections extends far beyond the boundaries of local governance. The outcome will undoubtedly shape the political landscape leading up to the 2024 general elections and set the stage for the confirmation of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) when the NPP clinches victory in 2024.
