The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has successfully concluded a high-level performance review of the 2024 electoral cycle, signaling an early and aggressive start to its 2028 strategic roadmap.

The engagement, held yesterday at the forecourt of the Regional Party Office, served as both a technical post-mortem of the party’s recent electoral showing and a celebratory ceremony to recognize the contributions of the party’s rank and file.

The event was presided over by the National Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, whose presence underscored the national leadership’s commitment to the Ashanti Region—a critical battleground in Ghanaian politics.

In his address, Chairman Nketia commended the regional wing for its resilience. He emphasized that the 2024 cycle provided invaluable data and lessons that would form the bedrock of the party’s future operations.

He noted that the “Ashanti project” remains central to the NDC’s path to sustained national influence, urging members to maintain the momentum generated during the last campaign.

A significant portion of the ceremony was dedicated to an awards presentation aimed at honoring hardworking members, zonal leaders, and constituency executives. These individuals were recognized for their tireless efforts in mobilizing voters and defending the party’s interests at the polling station level.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman, Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, highlighted that the party’s growth in the region was not accidental but the result of deliberate, grueling work by local organizers.

“We are here to say thank you. Our fortunes in this region are on an upward trajectory because of the men and women who stood their ground. This recognition is a reminder that your loyalty and hard work do not go unnoticed,” Nana Kwasi stated.

The review brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including:

Regional Executives,

Constituency Leaders,

Zonal Coordinators,

Key Internal Stakeholders

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, along with other prominent regional executives, facilitated constructive dialogues focused on deepening party unity and addressing structural gaps identified during the 2024 polls. The discussions were described by attendees as “frank, transparent, and restorative,” focusing on how to make the party more inclusive and formidable.

The leadership reaffirmed its collective commitment to consolidating the gains made in 2024. By analyzing voting patterns and organizational bottlenecks, the party aims to refine its grassroots communication and election management systems well ahead of the 2028 cycle.

As the NDC looks toward the future, the Ashanti Regional wing has set a clear agenda: unity, discipline, and expansion. The ceremony concluded with a symbolic “reaffirmation of resolve,” where leaders and members pledged to work diligently toward achieving an even more dominant performance in the next general elections.

The successful hosting of this review marks the beginning of a series of regional engagements intended to keep the party’s machinery oiled and ready for the challenges of the next four years.
