It has come to our attention that a story is circulating regarding Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) allegedly welcoming 95 aggrieved members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
We wish to categorically state that this claim is entirely false and baseless. No card-bearing member of the NDC has defected to the NPP. The individuals paraded by NAPO were, in fact, existing NPP members posing as NDC defectors.
This stunt is nothing more than a desperate attempt to create a false narrative of momentum for the NPP. It is unfortunate that NAPO, rather than addressing the real issues affecting Ghanaians, has resorted to such deceptive tactics. If NAPO truly possesses any leadership qualities or the ability to appease aggrieved individuals, his efforts would be better spent on reuniting his own fractured party. He should start by bringing back the numerous disgruntled NPP members, including Alan Kyerematen and his Butterfly Movement, who have distanced themselves from the current leadership.
Instead of sponsoring fake news, NAPO should focus on resolving the growing discontent within the NPP. Attempting to manufacture defections from the NDC will not change the reality that Ghanaians are tired of the failed promises and hardships under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
We urge the public to see this for what it is—a shameless and futile effort to divert attention from the real issues at hand. The NDC remains strong, united, and focused on delivering true change and progress for all Ghanaians.
