Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament for Assin Central and prospective flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that he will not drop out of the contest.

He claims that he is prepared to accept the conclusion regardless of who wins and is eager to fight to the last end.

Speaking to a crowd in a video seen, he stressed that the fairness and openness of the next primaries, set for November 4, 2023, will be crucial to maintaining party unity, particularly after the flagbearer election.

“I am not going to step down for anybody, when you win, then you win, so all of us, if we have to come together, then we come together. But coming together will depend on how we will conduct this November 4th election because how they treated all of us on the 26th, I think it is not proper.”

Kennedy and three other candidates—Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Addai-Nimoh—will compete for the position of flagbearer.

The NPP has set November 4, 2023, as the date to choose a new party leader to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
