NPP PC For Oforikrom Gifts Ghc5000, 30 bags of fertilizer to Municipal Best Farmer

Mr Michael Aidoo, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti region has gifted Ghc5000 to the municipal best farmer in the municipality.

The incoming Member of Parliament for the area also added 30 bags of fertilizer to the municipal best farmer to aid him execute his business as a responsible farmer.

The donation to Mr Godwin Beduro, the municipal best farmer, is to encourage others to venture into farming because , farming or Agriculture we say is the backbone of the Ghanaian economy.

The Municipal Assembly gave him tricycle, boots, fertilizes, knapsack, cutlass, spraying machine etc as his prize for the award.

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture held this year’s National Farmers’ Day on November 8, 2024,in Accra of which various MMDCES had their fair share in their various districts.

This year’s celebration marks the 40th edition under the themed; “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security.” The event emphasised on Ghana’s commitment to adopting agricultural practices that address the challenges posed by climate change.

Ahead of the celebration, the government and its partners hosted a five-day National Agricultural Fair, Agrifest Ghana 2024, from November 4 to 8. Agrifest showcased Ghana’s rich agricultural heritage and provided a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation, bringing together farmers and stakeholders from across the country.

The National Farmers’ Day celebration concluded with an awards ceremony on today, November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recognised exceptional farmers across 16 award categories.

Awards included the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer.

The celebration fosters dialogue and promoted innovation, encouraging farmers and stakeholders to adapt to environmental changes and implement best practices in agriculture.
