The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso North, Mr. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, has appealed to beneficiaries of the government’s Nkokɔnkitinkiti poultry programme to handle the distributed chicks with care to ensure the success of the initiative.

According to him, beneficiaries must provide the chicks with the right feed, proper housing, and appropriate medication in order to achieve the objectives of the programme, which is being implemented by the government through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Mr. Acheampong gave the advice during the distribution of the chicks to selected beneficiaries in the Offinso North District.

He explained that the programme is aimed at boosting poultry production, improving household income, and creating employment, especially among the youth and small-scale farmers.

The DCE disclosed that each beneficiary received 50 chicks, stressing that the sustainability of the programme largely depends on how well the farmers manage the birds.

He therefore urged beneficiaries to take the exercise seriously and apply best poultry farming practices so that the programme can serve its intended purpose of strengthening the local economy and enhancing food security.

The Nkokɔnkitinkiti initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to revitalize the poultry sector and reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported poultry products.
